Last Night
Last night I felt your arms around me,
Holding me in like I would.
Last night I smelt your hair on my pillow,
Drowning me in perfume.
Breath in my shoulder,
Heart to the flame.
I almost heard my name.
There in the darkness nothing was moving.
Tracing outside, hands slip and slide.
Sightless and staring, we were who we are.
A moment hung by stars.
Perfected in motion, in tandem enslaved.
I heard you call my name.
Last night I felt so very wanted.
But morning makes clear.
It's only me here.
